Westmead Car Hire

Westmead is a small suburb which is essentially a part of Parramatta. As one of the earliest settlements of Australia originally popular for governors and the few free settlers, the heritage buildings which remain today are particularly beautiful.

Old Government House (with monthly ghost tours), colonial farms and cottages, cemeteries where famous figures are interred, and some of Australia's oldest bridges are just a few ways to experience Australian history. Parramatta Gaol opened in 1842 but unfortunately isn't open to the public as it is still an operational prison today.

Parks are plentiful, with two not to be missed. Parramatta Park has historical buildings, two restaurants and a heritage rose display. Queens Wharf Reserve contains a memorial to all Australian ships named HMAS Parramatta plus the stern of the very first ship bearing the city's name. Architecture buffs mustn't miss seeing some of Australia's most significant churches.

Parramatta is a great sports spot, with Parramatta Stadium, Rosehill Gardens Racecourse and Parramatta Raceway plus three golf courses. Check out the local markets and choose from a diverse range of restaurants and pubs.
